Comparison

What really matters in the selection

No ranking – we are an interested party. Instead, the questions we would put to every vendor in your position, ourselves included.

Why no ranking

A vendor who puts itself in first place says nothing

Comparison portals make their living ranking software. We could do that too – and you would know the result immediately. So what stands here is a grid of questions rather than a verdict.

Take it into every conversation. The answers differ far more than the feature lists suggest.

The grid

Nine questions for every vendor

On the left the question, on the right why it is answered differently in civil engineering than in building construction.

QuestionWhy it decides
Does the software read GAEB X81 to X84?Without GAEB you retype every tender. Ask about the phases, not just about “GAEB”.
Does it calculate REB 23.003 with the working visible? The quantity alone is not enough at the audit; what is asked is how it came about.
How does the take-off get from the Zettel into the system? That is the real time sink. “Enter it manually” is an answer – just not a good one.
Are framework call-offs their own transaction?Without that you keep a second set of books in Excel, whichever software you buy.
Does it produce XRechnung including a Leitweg-ID check?Wrong check digits get the invoice rejected by the portal before a human sees it.
How long does the roll-out realistically take?Ask about weeks, not days – and about the effort on your side.
What happens to your data when you leave? That belongs before the contract. With every vendor, small ones included.
Who is on the phone when something jams?At large vendors a hotline, at small ones the developers. Both have their advantages.
Does your company size match the vendor's target group?A system built for construction groups costs you roll-out time above all, not money.

Levora’s own answers to these questions are spread across the feature pages – and where they are “no”, that is stated too.

Warning signs

When you should get sceptical

  • A vendor answers yes to every question
  • There is no price indication, not even approximate, not even on request
  • The demo runs only on sample data, not on your own paperwork
  • The question about data export gets a general answer
  • The vendor cannot name a single case where its product does not fit

Frequently asked

Questions about choosing

Why do you not compare against specific vendors?

We do, but on their own pages and only with documented statements – on mexXsoft and on NEVARIS. A large table covering ten vendors we have not all seen in use would be guesswork.

Are there independent comparison portals?

Yes, and for a market overview they are usable. Note that most are commission-funded – and that civil engineering rarely appears there as a category of its own.

What if none of them fits the grid?

Then stay with what you have for now. Software that has no good answer to any of the nine questions does not improve by being bought.

Put these questions to us as well

Take the grid into the demo. Where our answer is “no”, we say so – it is on the feature pages anyway.
