Funding

What is subsidised about the switch – and what is not

There is no funding programme for construction software. There are programmes for digitalisation and for consulting, and they differ considerably from one federal state to the next.

The most common misconception

BAFA subsidises consulting, not the software purchase

The BAFA subsidy for business consulting supports consulting services for small and medium-sized enterprises – not the licence and not the roll-out of a piece of software. Anyone counting on part of the purchase price being reimbursed is planning wrongly.

The programme is still worth knowing: if you need someone to look at your processes before the switch anyway, that consulting can be eligible. The subsidy is 50 % in the old and 80 % in the new federal states, based on a maximum of €3,500 in consulting costs. As things stand, the funding directive runs until the end of 2026.

16

federal states, 16 different sets of rules

The Digitalbonus does not exist as one nationwide programme. Conditions, amounts and duration differ by state – some programmes have been discontinued.

2024

the end of go-digital and Digital Jetzt

Both federal programmes expired at the end of 2024. Older guides on the web still name them.

Before applying

Where applications fail in practice

  • Applied too late. Almost all programmes fund only what has not yet been commissioned
  • Wrong programme. Consulting and investment are separate pots with separate rules
  • Programme discontinued. Guide pages often lag the funding landscape by a year
  • Company size does not fit. The SME definition is narrower than many assume
  • No advice from us. We are not permitted to advise you on this – ask your chamber of commerce or your tax adviser

Frequently asked

Questions about funding

Is Levora funded?

That is not how it works. What gets funded is not products but projects – digitalisation projects or consulting services. Whether your roll-out falls under one depends on your federal state, your company size and the timing of the application.

We are an EU firm working in Germany. Can we apply at all?

Nationality is not a criterion. The programmes attach to the business: you generally need a business registered in Germany with a permanent establishment here, you must fall under the SME definition, and you must meet the programme’s conditions. The owner’s passport is not among them. Ask the responsible authority about your specific case – we are not permitted to advise on funding.

Where do I see what applies in my federal state?

In the federal funding database, programmes can be filtered by state and topic. It is the only source we name here, because it is official and kept up to date – every static list on a vendor page is wrong sooner or later.

Do go-digital or Digital Jetzt still exist?

No, both federal programmes expired at the end of 2024. They still appear in many guides that have not been updated since.

Is the effort worth it for a small firm?

Honestly: often not. The application costs time, and for software of this order the effort is not always proportionate. If you are planning a consultancy anyway, the calculation looks different.

Will you help us with the application?

No, we are not permitted to. We can tell you what Levora costs and how much time the roll-out takes – the rest is for the chamber of commerce, the funding body or your tax adviser.

Official sources

Always check the current state there, not on vendor pages:

Do the maths first, then the funding

Whether the switch pays off is decided by your Zettel and your call-offs – not by a subsidy. Let us look at that first.
